getting negative | Film Group Assignment | April 2012

Back in November of 2011 I was blessed enough to attend the FIND (Film is Not Dead) workshop by Jonathan Canlas. One (of the many) things I took away from that workshop was new friendships with people who shared a passion for photography. And because of those friendships, I am now gratefully (and a bit bewilderedly – word?) included in a great little local Film Group that does monthly assignments. This month’s assignment was negative space. Here is my spin on it (Disclaimer:: Although this is a Film Group, the top three images are digital ::sad face:: I promise to keep it 100% film next time).

Now head on over to the blog of Sasha Prince Photography for more negative space eye-candy. xo.

live with aloha.

Leiko - I am so excited as well Wendy!

one sunny day…

A couple of weeks back I spent the weekend in my hometown of Hilo, celebrating my father’s retirement. In between eating & hanging out with family, I managed to squeeze in some “me” time. A couple of my girlfriends and I headed for downtown Hilo early Saturday morning to hit up the farmer’s market. If you have never been to Hilo’s farmer’s market, it is a MUST see. It’s small, but filled with lots of fresh local fruits + veggies (many organic).

I enjoy cruising the downtown area so much. It’s filled with history. The buildings are old. The shops are local (no big box stores here). And it’s a great place to shoot personal work. It is definitely on my to-do list to shoot the entire downtown area soon.
